Stop motion

In our music video we will be using alot of stop motion. Therefore we have been researching factors about using stop motion within music videos, what works and what doesnt ect. Heres one video i really like:

This video is mostly stop motion. And the sense of surrealism that stop motion creates is really emphasised by the narrative and the actions the character performs. The narrative has a girl who is awake very early in the morning and is bored. She goes to sleep then wakes up in her  dream. She is holding a picture of an eye which moves around and appears to be looking at things. This is a really cool effect which highly emphasises the surrealism of a dream and also reminds the audience that this is a dream.

There is no relation between lyrics/audio and visuals in this video as it would be hard to execute, especially singing lyrics. However there is lots of shots or the artists face, which are clear. This shows the audience that the character is 'awake in her own dream' and therefore can control the surrealistic nature of it. for example instead of walking she glides along the floor without taking a step.

Overall i think this video is effective in creating a surrealistic effect which forces the audience to question the reality of what they are seeing. Because there is a final shot showing the character asleep this reinforces the fact that is a dream and this a great idea to use when filming with stop motion.
