Through research of the young artist, we found that her style choice was rather casual and unique from other videos as she is not afraid to blend in- unlike other artists appealing to a similar target audience.
Our artist for our Ellie Goulding music video will be wearing either a casual top and jeans, with a leather jacket, similar to the one below; we have decided that this look is appropriate for our star, as she is appealing to a wide target audience of teenagers and younger women, her lyrics are not fierce, and this look will connote that they shouldn't feel pressured to look a certain way by revealing a lot of body and through camera work. On top of this, our actress will be sitting on a chair/stall/ladder of some sort playing the guitar, where we will use mainly close-ups in artificial lighting to enhance the chorus and show her star persona, that it is all about the music and lyrics.
Her fashionista side shows through the types of clothes she wears and her obscure jewellery. Our artist will be wearing current casual clothing- we want her to look current but we do not want to give the wrong impression of you SHOULD have these clothes- hence the close-up shots of mainly waist upwards, where the guitar will be an obvious possession.
In most pictures/videos you see of Ellie Goulding her long hair is down, not always perfect, but is never covering her face, which shows confidence. We hope to have our artists hair in a similar way.
