Finalised Star Persona

Our star is communicating a characteristic of ‘innocence’, we have tried to achieve this with the lighting being high key in the music video- however in this shot we have portrayed innocence through the use of her sitting in a field with her knees held to herself, as if she could never doing anything wrong. The fact that she is sitting in a field of poppies is suggesting that she is fun and adventurous- connoting that she is ‘natural’. The natural-ness is also shown through lack of makeup, hair down, and the summery clothes showing off her skin.
However, as she is showing off her skin, this could be mistaken for the conventional ‘ideal’ where limited clothing for mainstream pop stars is seen as normal. Our star is not conforming to the ‘ideal’, as she is more focussed on the lyrics and music and getting ‘lost’ within it, where the camera is not always focussed on her. This image was unconventional as there aren’t many advertisements of singers where they can be seen in a shot like this one (very natural). As we are eye-level with her, it is being connoted that she is ‘normal’ and not trying to change herself, but trying to influence teenage girls that they don’t either.  The song we chose ‘The End’, was very soft, and innocent, this image promotes this well.
Conversely, for our digi pack we would like to experiment with Photoshop techniques to make our artist stand out and also to show that she is unconventional. When researching Ellie Goulding for our similar target audience, we came across this image of one of her album covers – I really like this image as it is a portraiture shot, which means the audience is identifying with the artist instantly, but the slight twist with the image, making the face of Ellie Goulding  mixed with another shot is suggesting that there are two sides to her/the music, and that as she isn’t posing, it is reflecting that it’s about the lyrics.
